Report 2 Blackrock Market 9-7-11

Throughout the night there was a lot of tapping and creaks.
It seemed at times that when we were in one room the noise would be in the other room and vice versa.

On the night we conducted a re-enactment of the capture of the highway man in which keith played the part of the highway man in full dress. We also had on loan some coins that would have been used during the time of the highway man robberies of stage-coaches which we used as trigger objects laid out on table when we left later on in the night for a break. We had the camcorder focused on them plus 3 k2 meters which measure changes in the Electro Magnetic Fields in our surroundings.

Recording 1

On this recording everyone in the room hears a tap at the same time. There was also a second tap on the right hand side of us which everybody heard again. When questions were asked the taps seemed to be responding. On some of the recorders when we listened back some of the taps we heard were not present on the recorders. This is what we call Voice Phenomena where you heard it with your ear but it is not on the recorder, where as if it was captured on the recorders we would call them EVP’s(Electronic Voice Phenomena)

Recording 2

While Keith was calling out the girls were hearing taps coming from the hall close to the utility door. Dean goes out and stands by the radiator to eliminate that it is this that is making the tapping noises, but debunks that as they are coming from behind the small door. In this recording i am also calling out and a tap comes from the middle of the rom where we are all sitting.

Recording 3

The same taps that the girls were hearing by the door were picked up on two of the recorders at the same time. When dean was at the radiator another tap comes from beside him.
Just after Keith starts to call out ”Do it one more time” and a bang comes from the small room.

Recording 4

All members of the team have left the building to go for something to eat. The building is locked off behind us with 4 recorders and the camcorder running on the trigger objects on the table in the seating area. There is a click in the room and at one point we are heard on the recorders walking away from the building out towards the main gate, our voices are muffled as we are outside, then on the recorder there is a whisper followed with what sounds like a loud hiccup. The two sounds are completely different to the sound of us walking by outside and much louder with an echo. These sounds made the graph on the sound software spike as they were in close proximity to the recorder. The hiccup sound was also caught on the h2 recorder which was in the seating area on the table where the trigger objects were placed, but the sound was not as loud on this recorder indicating the sound came from the other room. While we were out the two recorders the one in the seating room and the one in the far room picked up what sounded like movement the two very distinct footsteps. The footsteps are heard more on the h2 recorder indicating they were closer to this than the other recorder. On these recordings there was also a tap which made the graph spike and sounded very close to the recorder. There was also two taps very close to the h2 recorder on the table which we thought were taps on the mic of the recorder but on further examination it sounded like the taps were on the table with the money.

This camcorder was set up with the recorders when we left the room. We were out of the room for about 35 minutes and in that time caught some really impressive evps. The camcorders also picked up the taps on the table. At 7m 59s movement was heard in the room on the camcorder. The clicks and taps were caught on the camcorder and h2 simultaneously. At 12m 6sinto the tape there is what sounds like light scarping on the camcorder. 13M 3s movement is heard again in the room. As the rooms above were empty and no prominent footsteps where recorded going up stairs all possible movements from residents were eliminated.

Re-enactment

The re-enactment went very well. We call these re-enactments and using objects from the time of a certain spirit or person Era Cues. This is what we use to try and get reactions and to try and have familiar surroundings of that of the highway man and other spirits which may be present in the building.We re-enacted the highway man getting caught and being brought to the gallows. At the time we were out side filming under the arch two clicks and then a woman’s groan was picked up on the recorder running in the room. All members of the team were accounted for and the groan was to loud for it to be outside as we had references of outside noise and it was very low and muffled for the whole night. All in all the re-enactment went very well, possibly the re-enactment done what it was suppose to do and get a reaction from the spirit of a woman? As before the EVPs are open to interpretation and what we heard you might not hear or what you hear we might not hear.

I would like to take this time to thank Colin for a loan of the uniform and to James from the collectors shop for the loan of the old coins which were used as the trigger objects and to bring the re-enactment to life.

Paranormal Activity in the basement…….

At blackrock market we were approached recently by the dublin paranormal research group and asked if we would be interested to see what actually is going on in the basement of our market. Here is the report we were presented with afterwards

Investigation Report: Blackrock Market 11-6-11

We arrived at the market in around 9pm and headed straight to the basement area where we were investigating. First thing we did was to have a look around and give the team a brief of the location. As we were setting up the cameras myself and Keith heard what I can only explain as a stone being dropped to the floor twice even though there was nobody walking upstairs and there were no stones on the surrounding area. Most of the evps we caught we caught on microphones and camcorder microphone, but nothing on the digital recorder or any of the photographs. Paula witnessed a man outside the door at the toilet dressed in a red top hat and possibly blue jeans just standing facing the wall at the men’s toilets. At that time meself and three other membersof the team Dean, Tina and Keith were under the arch at the hanging pole taking pictures doing a walk around.

We heard what was like two bangs so we walked around to the main area of the market and shon the torch upward to the cars to check but there was nothing there. After a minute or two I went back under the arch but tina remained in the main market walkway for a further few minutes.

A light went over our heads at which point tina asked s to go back to the basement as not to disturb the residents. When we got to the door Paula and Christian were holding the door thinking that somebody else was trying to get in and that is when they told us what they had seen.

Myself Dean and Keith took a walk back to the main gate at the end of the market checking all the stalls, doors and nooks and crannys to see was there anybody around which there wasn’t. Paulas statement as follows:

While the other four members of the team went outside to take some photos myself and Christina stayed behind. We turned out all the lights and sat on the couch to do an evp session. While calling out we heard a loud male voice, this continued for a few minutes and we thought it was Barry so we went out to the door to ask him to keep it down and we knew we were not to make noice due to the residents.

When we got to the door I just stood outside the door and pointed the torch towards the stalls, there I saw what looked to be a male wearing a red top hat and what looked to be blue jeans he was facing towards the wall and didn’t move at all.

I turned and said it to Christina and knowing that none of the team were wearing red we came back inside and turned on the lights. We went back to the door and I held the door shut while Christina grabbed a shovel! Just as Christina got to the door we heard loud footsteps coming towards the door. That is when the rest of the team showed up and they didn’t see any person out there.

Deans Statement of Investigation

The location was interesting, when you entered into the building you could feel the atmosphere changing to an uneasy feel. It was extreamly dark which added to the excitement. As we were conducting the envestigation I heard a few unexplainable noises which not only myself heard. I feel that further investigation is needed to corroborate what we already have. An interesting investigation with some interesting results.

 

There are a lot of noises to be heard that were captured on a disc but the society. All the noises are open to interpretation so what we heard the voices saying you might not hear but you might hear something else. There is no wrong way or wrong interpretations to EVPS. It is very possible that everybody might hear a spirit or a ghost say something different to the first person heard it.

A lot of times when you hear EVPS they are just whispers or sighs. Vary rarely but it does happen you will hear a normal voice or be able to understand what is being said. In most cases when people heard ghostly talking or conversations they are muffled and cannot be made out, but that is a sign that the conversation you are hearing is not from this world.

On first entering the building Tina said that she felt a sence of closeness as if someone was watching them from behind the bar. At one point during the investigation Tina Paula and Christina were in the scullery in the main living area. Tina was sitting with her back to the wall facing the door and Paula was sitting on the table with her back to the door. Tina asked were there any children present and there was a significant rise in temperature  on Paulas hands from 21 degrees to 27 degrees which was measured by Christina ising an infared thermometer. This would normally indicate that children are present but further investigations would need to be carried out in this area.

 

Verdict and Conclusion

The market was a different and interesting place to investigate. There were some knocking and banging sounds in and around the basement area most of which were accounted for but a few we can not account for. A lot of the sounds captured were caught on the camcorder microphones but nothing on the recorders or the photographs. There were a couple of whispers caught on the camcorder which we call EVPS or Electronic Voice Phenomena.

As for the man being seen outside in the market we cannot 100% say whether it was paranormal or just someone on their way home. We would need to check with the residents to see if anyone went in through the door closest to the basement and that would account for why we could find noone in or around the market when we checked. If not we need to look for other possibilities. Myself and the team feel that more investigations would need to be carried out to explore the small activity that was captured on the camcorder. Usually it takes more then one investigation before anything happens or the activity increases.

 

All in all it was a good investigation but would need to be investigated again.

 

Whether or not you believe in all of this paranormal activity, we will just have to wait and see what comes from the next investigation. Makes you think though………..
